A Mighty Big Deal in Panama - The Panama Canal

Image
Friday, June 2nd "Are you going to the canal??" That was the first question anyone asked when we announced we were going to Panama.  It makes sense, really.  Panama is really known for the canal. Except for me.  I knew the Panama Canal was a thing .  But I didn't entirely understand what kind of a thing it actually was. The day before our cruise, we spent a day in Panama City.  It rained and we honestly didn't get a full feel for the city.  As much as I will say we can have a great day despite the rain, it's always a lie.  Rain changes everything and makes you hate the world.  But you put on a brave face as long as you can and you try to duck into buildings and take long lunches to wait out mother nature. You might also have to wear a poncho. We ducked out of the rain and into the Panama Canal Museum in the Old Town district of San Felipe of Panama City.  Adele and I had scoped this out a few days earlier as we Ubered it to m...

Upper Antelope Canyon – A Photography Bucket List

Image
April 4 th , 2017 I bought myself a new camera the day after I returned from Hong Kong .   It’s not that I didn’t love my camera.   I did.   But I also knew I wanted to graduate to the next level camera.   Sure, I wasn’t necessarily ready for that cap and gown, but once I played with Liz’s camera the last time I was down in West Palm Beach, it was only a matter of time before I broke down and bought a new camera. This trip to Arizona was kind of just a way for me to learn about the new camera. As I researched tours in Antelope Canyon, I quickly discovered photography tours were abundant.   It makes sense, really.   Antelope Canyon is far enough out of the way that you’re not going end up here on a whim.   You are going here for a reason.   And you want the best pictures you can get to prove you were here.   So why not take a photography tour?? I decided on the Adventurous Antelope Canyon Tour company.   There we...

Lights on the Hong Kong Harbor

Image
Sunday, November 27 th There was always a plan to do a cruise during our trip to Hong Kong.   When we learned there was a light show on the Victoria Harbor, our decision was a no brainer.   Cruise during a light show.   And Aqualuna was our choice. The original plan was to cruise on Saturday night.  The tickets were purchased before we ever left the US and we were ready to go.   Unfortunately, the weather put a bit of a damper on our plan.   It began raining on Saturday morning and just didn’t let up.   It was raining so much that our AirBNB host e-mailed me and said, “I'm so sorry for the weather!!  Hong Kong isn’t supposed to be like this!!”   After a late lunch on Saturday, we realized the rain wasn’t going to let up.   Adele called Aqualuna and asked if we could move our cruise to Sunday.   No problem.   We were set. As we were trying to leave Macau  on Sunday, we realized we might not make it in...
